Time for Weekend Reflections and The Weekend Roundup and the letter is A and Architecture and this time I am
showing the ARCHITECTURE of the ALBERT Bridge that is in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Its three flat ARCHES span the River Lagan and it is one of
eight bridges in the city.
It was completed in 1890 by Belfast city surveyor
J C Bretland AFTER two ARCHES of the previous bridge suddenly
collapsed in 1886. It was opened in 1890 and named after Queen
Victoria's grandson, Prince ALBERT Victor, who laid a foundation stone in 1889. The 2 images show its AMAZING REFLECTIONS.
I appreciate your visit and comments.
I may not be able to comments as much as usual as
I seem to be busier with my many groups so that no one gets cabin fever, so I
hope you understand that.
Difficult times for everyone so stay safe.
A beautiful bridge and those reflections are equally so. Happy weekend to you Margaret :)

ReplyDeleteLovely reflections .
ReplyDeleteYes, beautiful reflections. I am surprised it took four years to complete this bridge. Wonder why the delay from 1886 to 1889 when the corner stone was laid? The bridge must have been well built as it is still functional and looks great.
ReplyDeleteThese reflections really ARE amazing! Especially the decorative molding on the edge of the arch, it makes a wonderful pattern in the water.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bridge. I've never seen one quite like it. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a beautiful bridge and your photos are stunning <3
ReplyDeleteI love this arched bridge, its curves and stonework we never see on modern roadways. It is beautiful!
