WEEKEND REFLECTIONS AND THE WEEKEND ROUNDUP

Time for Weekend Reflections and The Weekend Roundup and the letter Z in a word. Bangor Marina has ZILLIONS of boats in it costing even more ZILLIONS of pounds!  Lemon ZEST is the yellow outside portion of its peel. It's often used with or without lemon juice to add tangy flavor to recipes. The SIZE of a Bumble Bee is small and this one was BUZZING from flower to flower.

To update you on my knee injury, I have a torn ligament which is going to take months to heal but with exercise I will get there

Agapanthus at the "Cottage" in Malawi

Agapanthus is the only genus in the subfamily Agapanthoideae of the flowering plant family Amaryllidaceae. The family is in the monocot order Asparagales. The name is derived from scientific Greek: αγάπη = love, άνθος = flower.  Although there were huge flowering beds of this beautifu plant, today i am showing only 1 flower head and many edits from that one image.  Now which one do you prefer?

FRIDAY'S HUNT and WEEKEND REFECTIONS

This week for FRIDAY’S HUNT the letter is G, Favourite and Pink and I am also linking to WEEKEND REFLECTIONS.  I took this PINK flower shot in Costa Rica last year,  then I have the GORGEOUS Eider ducks  with REFLECTIONS and finally Miss G the pregnant GIRAFFE and the last 2 images are Eiffel Tower the husband and I have great video footage of them, however I was not able to get it edited in time for this post so that will have to wait until another day

FRIDAYS' HUNT and WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - Mount Stewart

Once again I am linking with FRIDAY’S HUNT and WEEKEND REFLECTIONS.  This week we are looking at the letter O, FAVOURITE image which for me if probably the first one and these reflection images were taken at Mount Stewart during the Conversations Weekend of 17/18 September.

I thought this Water Lily looked OVAL shaped and reminded me of an OPAL stone in a ring belonging to my Mum.  This is no ORDINARY lily as we will see when it is fully OPENED.

All of these fish were photographed at the weekly St George’s Market at Belfast.  They all have EYES and most are OPEN mouthed.

Friday's Hunt and Weekend Reflection - Great Saltee (Part 6)

Once again it is time for Friday’s Hunt and Weekend Reflections and this week we are starting the alphabet from the beginning again with 

the letter A, Favourite and Macro. I am starting with MACRO shots and would like you to guess what this is below!  No cheating!! 
The first 7 images were taken at Mount Stewart, Newtownards, N. Ireland.

They are social ANIMALS preferring to congregate in groups or flocks of varying sizes. This species is the main ANCESTOR of most breeds of domesticated ducks.

ANAS platyrhynchos (female)

It is better know to us as the Mallard and it is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical AMERICAS, Europe, ASIA, and North AFRICA, and has been introduced to New Zealand, AUSTRALIA, Peru, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, ARGENTINA, Chile, the Falkland Islands and South AFRICA. This duck belongs to the subfamily ANATINAE of the waterfowl family ANATIDAE.  

ANDY, was wearing the Northern Ireland AMBULANCE Service tunic from the 1980s and Pauline wore the 1993 Eastern Area AMBULANCE Service uniform.  This was outside the front of Mount Stewart House at the Vintage Car Rally.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - Rhinoceses at dusk and FRIDAY'S HUNT

This is a Brown - hooded KINGFISHER seen in KRUGER National Park. 

 This photograph is my choice for this week.  I requested that my family give me this Christmas Cheer Rhodendrron as a present for Chritmas.  I have one that is probably over 40 years old and bloomed for months during the dull winter months in my front garden.  I thought it would be good to have one in the back garden also.   It had 11 healthy buds when I received it and now it has started to bloom and I am thrilled as I look out of my window.
