These are photographs which
I came upon when I was walking along the Moira toe path some time ago in N. Ireland They are of Pied Wagtail, Swallow and a dog.
I
took my bird group to the island Hill Hide and we saw a Great Crested Grebe sitting
on her nest and the male was frantically bringing her more nesting material. We
also saw a lot of Mute Swans, House Martins and Swallows.

A few weeks ago a bus load of staff and
volunteers from Mount Stewart Estate traavelled to the Argory and Ardress House however before we
reached there we stopped into Oxford Island Discovery Centre where we had lovely coffee and
scones. These are the photographs I took
there. There were lots of Swallows and
House Martins getting ready to fly south to warmer climes. Also there were Mallard and Coot. Enjoy. Many thanks

Last week my Art Appreciation class had their summer
outing at Mount Stewart House. One of the members, Alan is a guide in the house
and he offered to give us a guided tour of the paintings and house. I did not take any images as I thought it would distract from
his tour. Then we had a delicious lunch followed by a walk round the lake but first a music video I promised you from yesterday, taken at Clandeboye Estate to listen to while looking at the critters I saw at Mount Stewart. CLICK HERE if the video does apear below.
Of course I think
everyone know the above is a UK Robin and then we passed these wooden horses. When we reached the lake we saw Mallard, Azure Dragonflies, Moorhen, Painted Lady Butterfly, a number of species of bees and wasps on the Echium and wildflowers and one of the Swans. The other one is now on a nest and I am glad to say that it is out on the reeds and no one can see it now.
You can hardly see the Mallards sitting on the bank above as they blend in so well withtheir surroundings especially as they are
all moulting. Below is Alan, who not only gave us a wonderful tour but I discovered he also took great photographs and he was the one to spy the Dragonflies.

Tomorrow I am starting another series and this time I am taking you to Great Saltee Island. Now do not worry the crossing is only 15 mintues in very calm waters.
Last week I
took the first 2 shots of these Swallows high up in the Portico at Mount Stewart House. I could not work out exactly how many there were, I saw three then however on Sunday I was back again and there were 4 hungry mouths that the parents kept feeding. The video at the end is better quality.
In another corner of the Portico were 2 House Martins building
a nest.

Last week I took my bird group to Oxford island and I
noted that there were not the numbers if birds as there had been previously. I photographed a few birds and shot a VIDEO of Great Crested Grebes displaying. Below is a Moorhen on her nest with 1 egg just outside the Centre itself. Also there are shots of Mallard, Great Tit, Pied Wagtail and a Swallow.
