A few weeks ago a bus load of staff and
volunteers from Mount Stewart Estate traavelled to the Argory and Ardress House however before we
reached there we stopped into Oxford Island Discovery Centre where we had lovely coffee and
scones. These are the photographs I took
there. There were lots of Swallows and
House Martins getting ready to fly south to warmer climes. Also there were Mallard and Coot. Enjoy. Many thanks
Many thanks for visiting today and also to all those who leave comments.
I am thinking the small birds on the roof are house martins. The ones with red chins must be the males. They are so cute and colorful.
ReplyDeleteO Ginny The ones with red under their chins are Swallows but there are a lot of young birds on the roof also
DeleteYet another beautiful place. Megathanks.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great place for a walk and taking pictures.

Dearest Margaret; Oh, I also enjoyed the swallows with red chins; how different and colorful♪ Ours are blackish with color and sort of sharp wing top :-) Wonderful place to visit.

Hello!:) Looks like a nice place to see wildlife. Great captures of the birds.
ReplyDeleteThose hirundines look tired before they've even started their long migration to Africa. They kind of look like they have collapsed all over that roof from exhaustion. Of course I could be seeing it that way because that's pretty much how I am feeling just now as I type this :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very nice spot!
I've never seen that red color on a barn swallow before. It's usually more of a rust color. I love the shots of the dock in this set. And the duck photo is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place to explore
What a pretty place to stop! Loved your photos of the wide open skies and water.
ReplyDeleteHello, the swallows are sweet. Love the scenery and views. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I liked the ones where the birds plopped down on the roof, they look so relaxed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place to be ---just being out in nature and enjoying the beauty around you... Love those little birds. I think they are Swallows......At least they look like the Barn Swallows we have here.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Your joy of nature is reflected in your photos. Love the perspective with the water and grasses.
