Last week I
took the first 2 shots of these Swallows high up in the Portico at Mount Stewart House. I could not work out exactly how many there were, I saw three then however on Sunday I was back again and there were 4 hungry mouths that the parents kept feeding. The video at the end is better quality.
In another corner of the Portico were 2 House Martins building
a nest.

ReplyDeleteThose are amazing nest builders!
ReplyDeleteI'm back from two weeks in Europe! Lots of photos but no time to write new blogs. I'll rely on the ones written and scheduled before the trip. Big move happens in 6 days!
I agree, the video is better! I love the pictures of the mom and dad standing on each side of the nest! Teamwork!
ReplyDeleteThey do build amazing nests. I try to keep them off of my porch because they are so messy, but they have nests twenty feet away on my husband's shop..I like to watch them coming and going..poor parents surely must get tired!
ReplyDeleteHello Margaret, cute swallows. Wonderful photos and I enjoyed the video! Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteWe use to have swallows in our horse barn, and I always liked seeing them around. They are masters of flight.

ReplyDeleteHello!:) I enjoyed the video, and seeing the full nest of chicks, soon to be vacated. The Swallows are great nest builders and I loved the House Martin photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the video of the birds - how cute. It is interesting that their nest seems to be mostly mud, as I always thought birds nests were made from twigs.
ReplyDeleteI'm always intrigued by their nest-building talents.
