Everyone knows the Mallard duck and at the National
Trust property at Mount Stewart they are mostly paired up, looking good and
hoping to breed soon. These are some I enjoyed watching as I walked round the
beautiful lake at this property. A few came to talk with me. On Saturday this week, I will show you more critters i found round the lake. Enjoy!
I am linking this post with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.
Tomorrow I will show you shots of the inside of Mount Stewart House.
Many thanks for your visit and also to all those who leave comments.
Although they are so common everywhere I don't give them much of a look they are fine looking birds.............
ReplyDeleteIncredible colours.
ReplyDeleteLovely collection Margaret
ReplyDeleteHello, Margaret! Pretty shots of the Mallards. The green head on the male is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
WoW...all are beautiful but the head shot is magnificent!!!!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photos Margaret... especially that first one.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are gorgeous.
We've been lucky to have a pair of Mallards land every afternoon in the field behind our house. We've had so much rain lately that there's a now a water feature developed.
Mr and Mrs Mallard have been enjoying it ever since.
Happy Tuesday to you
Margaret, I think ducks are a masterpiece of color, and the males are always the colorful ones.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't enjoy watching the ducks? I like the stare down you got from the duck in your first photo.
ReplyDeleteOurs seem to have stopped bickering and fighting too.
ReplyDeleteOh that velvety green head!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Margaret!

Those are very handsome ducks. Love you close up portraits of them.
ReplyDeleteTerrific shot of the Mallard Margaret. They may be common but we probably overlook how beautiful they are until someone reminds us.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I quite enjoy mallard ducks so I very much appreciated this post! Thanks Margaret!
ReplyDeleteThe mallard is the most popular duck in this area, but I still love it.I keep in taking more and more pictures of this duck.

As common as the Mallard is, it is still one of the most beautiful (I love the Green, green of the males head) and always a favorite of mime. I have a pair that have been coming to my feeders in my back yard every year for a long time. I know it would be hard to tell them from any others that would come, but they know exactly where to go for the good stuff from day one ... you don't know that if you're a newcomer :) Lovely post, Margaret ... looking forward to the other critters at Mount Stewart :p
