GOOD FENCES - Tory Island (Part 11 )

Once again, I am posting from Tory Island when I visited it in May this year. Today all the birds are sitting on fences, the Meadow Pipit, Wheatear and Tree Sparrow on barbed wire and the series of Oystercatcher images are on a wall.  I am showing a video at the end with a seal, ducks, Pipit, Wheatear and  Oystercatcher








This was probably someone’s home many years ago.






I hope you enjoyed not only seeing the fences but also the birds.

    Birds can make even the ugliest fence beautiful.
    And I love the remnants of the old home. What stories those stones must have heard and seen...

    I really can't remember the last time I saw a Tree Sparrow round my way such a tragedy their rapid decline, one I'd my favourite species is the Sparrow. Great images all round but the Oystercatcher had me in stitches and is definately a my favourite (after the tree sparrow of course)

    Love the oystercatchers Margaret - such lovely birds. Its wonderful to see Tree Sparrows too - I haven't seen one locally for years :(

    Birds on fences just make good pictures - they always look so cute. I love oyster catchers - here on the West Coast they are completely black with this strikingly orange-red bill. Wonderful birds, but quite shy.

    The barbed fences and birds (especially the sparrow with a worm in its beak) are really special. The Oystercatcher seems to be doing a dance for you. And the small house framed perfectly by the stone wall and arch, is stunning! Have a great day. Jo

    Oh I enjoyed this post a lot. Of course the birds, but the stone walls and fences are wonderful. Somehow seeing the remnants of someone's home immediately makes it easier to think about what it would have been like to live there back in the day.

    I find the Oystercatchers to be fascinating birds. The video was really fun to watch.
    Loved the fencing near the video, that was some serious looking barbed wire. - It's always neat to see your variety of birds here.
