GOOD FENCES - Mount Stewart Gardens

If you have been following my series this week on Mount Stewart House & Gardens, you will have seen both inside and outside this magnificent house and today the beauty continues.  The gardens have many fences and  a lot of them are made from natural material and even some are sculptured.  Sit back and enjoy.

On Tuesday, I posted photographs and video showing this
Mute Swan with 5 eggs. CLICK HERE if you missed it.
Only a blue thin rope keeps the public from her nest.

Mallard behind this fence that needs erecting again.

Box for Red Squirrels

Step into the Sunk Garden with me.

The Sunk Garden, west of the house was the second garden compartment Lady Londonderry embarked upon after the Italian Garden. Centred on the Little Dining Room or Breakfast Room and Lord Londonderry’s bedroom above, it and the Shamrock Garden beyond are the only part of Lady Londonderry’s design which relate directly with the ground floor of the house. The planting is based on a sketch in one of nine garden notebooks, dated 1922.

The house overlooking the Italian Garden.

Spanish Garden

Who would like the job of keeping these hedges trimmed?
You would need a head for heights for that job!

This is a summer house in the Spanish Garden and I have taken a couple of close ups so you can see the table which has all the signs of the zodiac on it and the walls have these beautiful tiles.

The Italian Garden has 2 round ponds with fountains and the beds are mainly formal and in the summer are a riot of summer colour.

This is the path that leads to the beautiful lake which I will show you more of tomorrow.

These impressive gates lead into the Sunk Garden.

This is the old dairy.

In a meadow opposite the dairy I found these new colourful bee hives.  I must ask who looks after them.

I am linking this post with GOOD FENCES.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I thank you for visiting.

Many thanks for all your comments.

  23. Oh my gosh what an amazing place! I had to go back and view your other posts as well (Stunning photos) to soak it all in. - I showed Coleen the Topiary Rabbit and other photos here. We wondered where this was and then I found out it's in Ireland. I've always dreamed of going to Ireland (doubt I ever will though) so I'm glad to have seen this post because it was magical and beautiful.
