WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY - Copeland Island Birds (Part 1)

As I mentioned yesterday, I and two others spent last weekend on the Copeland Island and although on the Friday evening we erected mist nests, unfortunately due to very windy conditions, then rain later there were no birds migrating, so no birds were ringed.  However, I did enjoy the weekend even though I was not feeling up to power.  This week I will be sharing my photos with you.

There were two sites where the Fulmar had made their nest however I wil show you more photos and video of that later in the week.

Lesser Black backed Gull

 Herring Gull

There were also Black headed gathering to nest on the island.

Oystercatcher

Black Guillemot

I saw a few Willow Warbler on the isladn although there were more Chiffchaff.

Buzzard

We saw 7 Shelduck on the island and the bird to the right is one of the Buzzard.

Common Gull

There are lots more I have to share with you all week however I hope you enjoyed your visit today.

  1. Really stunning little wildlife scenes from the Copeland Island. I like how tucked away some of those birds are. Makes for really great photography.

  5. A shame you didn't get to join in the ringing Margaret, especially with Willow Warblers and Chiffchaffs about. I guess Copeland must be very susceptible to the wind spoiling things.

Never mind, you got some real nice pictures and gave a taste of the weekend. I especially liked seeing the Fulmars and the Black Guillemots, probably because I don't see that many of either species.

  11. Guillemots are a favourite bird. It's a pity they were swimming and not walking but one can't have everything.
