SATURDAY CRITTERS - Fish Eagle in Malawi

We hired a boat to go to try and entice the Fish Eagles to come down and feed.  Although we saw a lot, many of them did not oblige us by coming down to the fish we provided, never the less it was great fun trying and a wonderful sight to see them.  ALL the images are heavily cropped!

These are the people we saw last week on a post who are also looking for the Eagles and Annika exchanged a wave with them.

Jon, my son in law conversing with the boatman.

Although I took quite a bit of videos of the Eagles in the trees, the movement of the boat made it to shaky to show you.   Annika was the only one that could get the Eagle to come down for the fish as you will see in the video below.

I hope you enjoyed see these Fish Eagles.  I will be posting another post about the Adult Fish Eagles on Wild Bird Wednesday, next Tuesday (my UK time).

I am linking this post with SATURDAY CRITTERS.

Thank you for visiting and leaving comments.  Thank you Eileen for linking me in this week.

  1. I love your photos of the Fish eagles. And good on Anika for succeeding to feed one. We had this experience on Lake Baringo, GRV, Kenya. I managed some photos of the bird swooping down! Thanks for sharing these precious memories. Have a great weekend. Jo

  12. Beautiful eagles, and I agree with Anne (cornucopia) - they look very similar to Bald Eagles. Cousins perhaps? :-)

  21. Probably you made the same kind of trip on Lake Malawi as we did in 2010. I managed to take a number of pictures of the fishing eagle, pretty nearby. Anyway, and impressive, unforgettable experience.
    Greetings, Kees

  29. It's great to see your trip to Africa, to bask in the warm sun with you and see the Fish Eagles. The movie is fun, I have a red-headed niece, she must have really enjoyed succeeding with feeding the fish to the eagle.
