There are a NUMBER of images in this post, as well as a video of the sub adult as well as an adult FISH EAGLE which are all
taken as I walked along the road at Montfort Cottages, Malawi.
I wanted to show you the habitat of the rocks and large
trees in this area.
This is the second Eagle I found and you will see how close it was to the first one on the video although it kept hiding from me!
I wonder was this their nest?
While I was
trying to photograph both the sub adult Fish Eagles, an adult Fish Eagle flew over. You will see all on this video below and the noises are the Baboons.
I hope you enjoyed this post. This is the first I ever saw of the Fish
Eagle and I was pleased. On Saturday Critters,
I hope to post about another time I came across adult Fish Eagles.

Oh wow, Margaret, the iconic sound of Africa. The African Fish Eagle. That sounds like the female. Great, great shots of the sub Fish Eagle posing and adult Fish eagle in flight. I find when they're young, they're a lot less skittish and you manage to get lots of photos. Thanks for sharing! Jo
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures of Fish Eagle Margaret.
ReplyDeleteThey look big. How do they compare in size with a Buzzard.
ReplyDeleteBuzzard 51-57cm Fish Eagle 63 -73cm Quite a bit larger. Will be posting more about them on Saturday (I hope, as I will be away in South Donegal!)
DeleteCongrats Margaret! The fish eagle is an awesome bird.. I assume it is similar to the Osprey seen here. Great shots and I loved the video with the sounds.. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThese are really great finds.

ReplyDeleteIt looks quite similar to an osprey. It's nest sure is in a high secure place!
ReplyDeleteThe rocks and trees make for a very interesting habitat! Neat shots!
ReplyDeleteFabulous find , and great shots of the Fish Eagle. I enjoyed the clip and the sounds they make.
ReplyDeleteWow- I have never seen one- these are great shots!!
ReplyDeletealthough it kept hiding from me!
ReplyDeleteSome birdies are like that. Makes it all the more satisfying when you some nice pictures, and these are great!

beautiful bird! like that big tree, too!
ReplyDeleteHuge and impressive! He seems to be HUGE! Why are his wings open like that, is he sunning himself? I do not think there are any fFsh Eagles in this country. But we do have our own fisher called the Osprey. He is white and a bit smaller, but it is wonderful to see him swoop down over the water and grab a fish. Your sky is beautiful as well, plus I love those rocks!
ReplyDeleteThe eagles' habitat is as majestic and beautiful as they are.
ReplyDeleteFascinating!
ReplyDeleteVery enjoyable of the eagles Margaret, and the video was equally so. Thoroughly enjoyed them, thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs Margaret. What a thrill to have been as close as you were!
ReplyDeleteMy compliments on your video skills too... especially tracking the eagle in flight, you did a tremendous job - that's such a hard thing to do.
A great post all round, thank you :D)
Very nice photographs of such a majestic bird!
