    Early fall is a great time to harvest ripe fruit. Are these crabapples? They make a fine jam, and also look great in your photo.

    "Wild" apples are something I always look for this time of year -- there are a lot of places that used to be orchards but are now abandoned fields. One of our granddaughter's-in-law baked a pie from them at a family dinner yesterday -- delicious. Takes a lot of work thouogh! I always just take pictures of them.
