I visited WWT at Castle Espie last Saturday and these
Eider ducks were in tip top form all displaying to the females who mostly
appeared to be taking no interest in them, in fact quite a few were sleeping!!! At the end I have added a video of Snow Geese and Red-breasted Geese preening and having a bath.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these ducks and geese.

Such beautiful feathers!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous shots of those beautiful ducks!
ReplyDeleteThe eider ducks are gorgeous! I know they are the source of eider down, the finest and softest padding for jackets and pillows. I hope they are not killed just for this purpose. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of totally disinterested females. Of any species.
ReplyDeleteTrès bel oiseau ;-)
ReplyDeleteCéline & Philippe

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful--- And it's like they KNOW it.
ReplyDeleteThe Eider Ducks are so smooth and very lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love the noise that Eiders make, it always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteThey are handsome ducks indeed ... funny how they go to all that work only to be ignored (only that will be temporary, so I suppose it's just practice)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And fun watching the one bathing :o) Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThose Eider ducks are really handsome. Great shots, as always.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful species. You captured them nicely.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful little ducks the Eider are. I have never seen one before. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have ducks today too.
ReplyDeleteGreat images of such unusual ducks, Margaret. Really wish I'd seen the eiders when I lived in the UK, though I am happy with my memory of the lovely tufted ducks in the London ponds.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of these handsome ducks!
