THROUGH MY LENS - Mount Stewart House and Gardens (Part 8)

Today will be our final day at Mount Stewart House and Gardens.  Last week I showed you videos of various things around this house as well as Lord Londonderry’s Study and the Dining Room.  Today, we are finishing with the Breakfast and Drawing Room after which we will take a last stroll round the gardens before going home.

This Breakfast Room leads into the very elegant Dining Room which I showed you last week on a video. CLICK HERE if you missed that post.

It is the magnificent Drawing Room.

This is the last room, at present, I am showing you before we go into the beautiful gardens.    You will see it better on the video below.

Italian Garden

The Dodo Terrace commemorates the Ark Club,
a club set up by Edith, Lady Londonderry, in 1915.

Sunk Garden

Japanese type garden at the lake.

This is the last look at the beautiful Mute Swans and their seven very healthy cygnets.  I wonder when the parents will be telling their off spring to find a lake of their own.  We will have to wait until next year before we find the anwser to that question.

Leptospermum scoparium 'Red Damask' bark.

Tir n'an Òg

The family burial ground which overlooks the lake.

There are lots of different types of seats to sit and relax so that you can soak up all the beauty that is surrounding you.

This is a collage of some of the seats.

Our time at Mount Stewart Garden, for the time being is over and I hope you have enjoyed both seeing the inside videos and stills of the house as well as viewing the magnificent gardens.

I am linking this post with THROUGH MY  LENS.

Thanks you for visiting and also to all you leave comments.

  4. Wonderful gardens for sure, looks very zen like and apart from the three adorable kids at the pond (love that photo!) it looks like you were able to enjoy pretty much on your own. It was fun watching the video in contrast and hearing about the kids not being allowed in the dinning room until they were 16 years, fabulous interior too from the furnishings to the rich coloured walls.
In answer to your comment, I really hope to get to Northern Ireland one summer, although looking at our schedules we will have to plan ahead to make sure you're at home! You always leave such lovely comments, thank you for your visits!

  7. What a fascinating estate and gardens, Margaret, and so near to you. As a gardener, I think about what it would be like to take care of all the gardens and plants, it must be a big staff. The house is so interesting, I was wondering what the footed bowl was on the floor under the table in the drawing room, perhaps watering bowl for a dog? The music played there must have been interesting, like scenes from Jane Austin. I looked up the satellite view in google maps, but had trouble identifying the gardens in it.

  26. Gorgeous place, love the drawing room. I noticed on either side of fireplace appears to be buttons. Did you happen to see those and asked if they were used to summon the butler or something? Love that last shot of the arbour. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this place inside and outside and all the videos!
