After having a little peek yesterday into Mount Stewart House (and there are lots more to show you about other rooms in this magnificent house), we will step outside and take a wander round the lake to see the birds.

young Moorhen
I saw 2 sets of Grebes but unfortunately they were all in the middle of the lake however I tried to capture them on video.(See below)

You
may remember when I visited Mount Stewart in April I videoed the Mute Swans sitting on a nest of 7
eggs and I am thrilled to report that
all 7 hatched and are doing very well. There is a Mallard and Coot in the background.

Mallard
(female)
I
did take some video of all the Swans and I will show you that on Friday but aren't the droplets of water on this cygnets' feathers just wonderful.
Now
here is the whole family.
This
is a male Mallard in eclipse plumage.
Tomorrow we will continue our tour of the inside of the house when you will see a video of Lord Londonderry's Study
as well as taking you on a walk into the beautiful gardens.
I am linking this post with WILD BIRD WENESDAY.
Thank you for visiting and also for leaving you kind comments.
All beautiful, but it is the graceful swans who have my heart today. And those water droplets are an amazing capture.

ReplyDeleteWow - all seven - clever them! YAM xx
Hello Margaret, lovely series of images. The chicks are so cute and I love the swans. Have a happy day!
ReplyDelete"greb" and "far away" seem to be a regular combination in my experience. I found my first fledglings - rainbow lorikeets - of the season today, so it must be spring!

Lovely bird photography and I too love the swans. Good to hear all the eggs hatched and the cygnets are doing well :)
ReplyDeleteCute little moorhen ans well as those young swans!
ReplyDeleteGlad all seven cygnets are doing well! Lovely photo of the droplets on their feathers!
ReplyDeleteTruly a fun day to be on the water. They are having a blast, life is so good.
ReplyDeletebeautiful swans!!! i always enjoy seeing them!!!
ReplyDeletethe recipe featured on my blog said it was for 4, but the 2 of us ate 3/4 of it. perhaps if you serve it with sides or a salad, it would then feed 4. i just served it with french bread. it was really easy and really good. i use good chopped sirloin from my butcher and i think that made a big difference. i would def use good meat!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all your bird photos, especially the swan close-ups.
ReplyDeleteIt is too easy to forget how beautiful are our Mute Swans. Thanks for reminding everyone Margaret.
ReplyDeleteMoorhens are so funny with their giant legs. Your mallards are very cute, too!

Eclipse plumage--- I think that's my problem. Love the moorhen.
ReplyDeleteThe young Moorhen is adorable and am so glad the seven young swans are doing well. Great photos Margaret and enjoyed the video.
ReplyDeleteThe Swans are so beautiful. The best one is the cygnet with the water drops. That is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of all the birds. A first to see the Moorhen.
ReplyDeleteThe Little Grebes are super.
ReplyDeleteHello Margaret!:) I love all your swan captures,( nice one of all the family) and coot, and young Moorhen shots
ReplyDeleteLovley post ,nette
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures and love the video of the Grebes. They are such cute birds ... they always make me think of the little windup toys we had as a kid. Lucky that all seven of the swan babies survived. Good for the parents on a job well done. Our swans don't do that well because we have fox and an occasional coyote here. And we didn't have any mating adults on the lake this year. Not sure why ... we are missing many of our usual birds. Very nice, Margaret ...
