In yesterday’s post we made the journey to Rathlin Island
and then travelled in the Puffin bus to The Stacks. Today I am showing you the photographs of the
birds I saw there and also a VIDEO at the end of the post.
Razorbill
Thousands
of Common Guillemot above and Gulls below.
Meadow
Pipit
This is a racing Pigeon.
Now
you will have to look carefully at the photos because nearly all the Razorbill,
(above), Common Guillemots, Gulls and Kittiwakes had chicks.
Do
you see this Razorbill chick between the parents?
You
may notice that these Common Guillemot are a bit plump looking and that is because
they all have a single chick below them.
Watch carefully on the video to see if you can see chicks better.
The
Kitttiwake chicks were much easier to see as they had only a very small ledge
to stand on. How they didn’t fall off, I
do not know!
The
Fulmer did not have chicks as yet (this was July 2015).
CLICK HERE if the video does not appear below.
I will show you the Puffins and more birds on Saturday's post however I do hope you enjoyed seeing all the birds today.
I am linking this post with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.
Many thanks for visiting and also to those who leave comments.

Hello Margaret, a great wild bird post. I love seeing the chicks. The Razorbill would be a lifer for me. The views of the cliffs are beautiful. Thanks for sharing, have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI assume where the chicks are is where the female laid the egg. Amazing that they can stay on that little bitty ledge.
ReplyDeleteLoved the first shot. All great photos and video Margaret. Always interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteWow, all incredible moments out and about!
ReplyDeleteSo many birds on this beautiful coast line.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteAwww...the babies are so cute! What a wonderful coastline, too!
ReplyDeleteYou do get to see some fabulous birds, Margaret!
ReplyDeleteGadzooks, that's a crowded cliff! Wonderful birds!
ReplyDeleteThe sheer number of birds on those cliffs is astounding. I do wonder how many baby chicks fall off those ledges before they can fly.
ReplyDeletequite the colony.
ReplyDeleteWow so many birds, love the video.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite an amazing island, such interesting rock formations and cliffs. It's hard to imagine birds can hatch out chicks in such conditions and they can cling to such narrow ledges and grow. Wonderful video! You get to see so many parts of the world!
ReplyDeleteThe Pigeon Margaret. Not a Rock or Stock Dove, Its a Racer.
ReplyDeleteNice bunch of sweet little babies, Margaret.

ReplyDeleteI cannot even imagine this many birds!
ReplyDeletelovely birds and great shots. I have seen them, one of the highlights of birding :)
ReplyDeleteIncredible, Margaret! I would just need a sleeping bag and some water and come get me when winter starts!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of birds! I guess the cliffs are the birds version of skyscrapers.
