GOOD FENCES - Kiltonga Wildlife Reseerve (Part 4)

All this week I have been taking you on a walk round Kiltonga Wildlife Reserve and just as we start our walk we see these Common and Black headed gulls resting on the fence.   The third image is the gate we go through to start our walk and the last shot is where we end up again.  Enjoy.

Kiltonga Wildlife Reserve- (Part 3)

More images as my bird class and I walked round the lake at Kiltonga Wildlife Reserve.  Below is a Robin, the next image is a cat what was not for going away and was intent of trying to catch some ducklings. I had quite some task dissuading it.

Moorhen

Back again to the start with all the gulls on the fence and below you can see a male Mallard duck that has already started going into eclipse plumage.

However I could not finish without showing you this beautiful new sculpture they have added to the lake.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some more shots of the things we saw as we walked round the lake.

Many thanks for visiting and also to those who leave comments.

WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY - Kiltonga Wildlife Reserve (Part 2)

Following on from yesterday’s post, we will continue our walk round Kiltonga Wildlife Reserve and today I will show you some more birds. Below are Lesser Black backed Gulls and then a black headed Gull standing on a nesting site.

Robin above and Moorhen below.

Heron

This Magpie seems to have something wrong with its wing
however it was still able to fly.

Black headed Gulls

I was amazed that in June of this year, these male Mallards above were going into their eclipse plumage. This is a Jackdaw below.

I have a short video of a pair of Mute Swans with their cygnets.  CLICK HERE if the video does not appear below.

I hope you enjoyed our walk today and the birds we saw.

Kiltonga Wildlife Reserve (Part 1)

Last month I took my bird class to Kiltonga Wildlife Reserve and all this week I will be showing you photographs and video from our walk round the lake so I hope you will join me.  We discovered a new sculpture in the water of a beautiful Swan and the Coot seems to have taken up residence around it.

Female Mallard with her duckling which you will see better on the video at the end of this post.

The next few images are of views from different places as we walked round.  Everything had very lush greenery and the Cuckooflower and Queen Anne's Lace were in full bloom.  The last shot is a Grey Heron.

If the video does not  appear below CLICK HERE.

There will be many more photographs of birds in tomorrow’s post.  However, I hope you enjoyed our walk today and thanks for joining me.

Also many thanks to those who kindly leave comments.

SATURDAY CRITTERS - Llamas in Donegal

Well, no one guessed correctly about what critter I am posting about today so I hope no one is disappointed however thanks to all those who sent in their guesses.  I appreciated all of them.  I found these 2 Llamas in Donegal when I was staying with my friend Trish after I left Tory Island.  One is called Peaches and the farmer hoped she was in foal, the other Llama was Fred.  You will see both on the video at the end of this post.

Trish also took photographs of me in the field and I will show you these some other time.  I thank her for the first image on this post.

I don’t think I need say anymore although I was going to put narration under some of the close ups.  Perhaps you may some suggestions?

I have to say the close ups of the Llamas teeth really made me smile and I hope it did you as well.
