SUNDAY THOUGHT - Whale

And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21

Photographed on a pelagic trip in
New South Wales
Australia

The last shot was taken by Allister who took me on this trip.

The Whale went right under our small boat!

    1. Thanks for your comment. Yes it was amazing to see this whale at such close quarters but a bit worrying when it disappeared under the small boat!

  2. Splendid photos. It is fascinating seeing the whale up so close. Those look like barnacles attached to its skin?

  3. I think I went on a whale watching boat once in San Diego but only remember being rather seasick. Great shots of the whale, and even including some scripture.

  4. Magnificent creatures. We got up close and personal in 2003 when we visited Newfoundland and took a whale watching boat trip.

  8. I love whates (doesn't everyone?) but have never been able to see one in the wild. I have seen the Orca at Sea World and once went out off the coast of Washington to see them, but didn't spot one. So I can only imagine your excitement when you saw this whale ( you didn't mention what kind of whale it is). It is on my bucket list to go somewhere that has whales I can see :) Thanks, Margaret, this is a nice Sunday post :)

    1. Hi Andrea yes I also saw a Orca at Sea World which was wonderful. As far as I can remember, it was a Humpback Whale. Thanks for your visit and comment.

  9. Wow, I bet that would be awesome to see in person! Did you know that people think Jonah lived in the belly of a whale, but God did not say that it was a whale. It was a big fish that he created especially for this task.

  12. Love your first shot with the lady in red and the akubra hat, it really captures the atmosphere, That would have been pretty exhilarating to be that close to the barnacled babe! I can just imagine that "hold your breath she's going under moment'!!

  14. Love your shots of this whaling adventure. We went out on a whaling watch this past summer with our grandson when we visited Cape Cod. So enjoyed it but hard to photograph. Spot, focus, and get a tale every time. Good shots.
