Singing Donkeys!

Now yesterday I promised you a laugh today.  Let me put you in the picture.  Eileen and I came across the donkeys at Oxford Island that are keep there to keep the meadows in the right condition.  One of the donkeys that arrived started 'singing' and I videoed it.  Then the others appeared.  We left them to walk on further however on our way back 2 other people were feeding the donkeys and we asked them had they heard the donkey singing.  They said 'no' so I played the short clip of video I had taken and suddenly the donkey started again, we stared laughing and the little black donkey that was just a the fence beside us, tuned up.  I was laughing so much I didn't get that on video but the white one started again.  Anyhow I hope you find it as funny as we all did.  Enjoy video at end of post and have a great day.

Make sure you watch the face of the donkey singing.

You can access the video at

  1. :) certainly bought a smile Margaret; and many memories too. I have lived with a herd of donkeys many years back now, and very familiar with that sound. During a drought period when they needed to be hand-fed they would line up at the fence like this and bray loudly ... at around 6 a.m.!

  6. Brilliant. Lovely beasts they are but none have the cross on their backs. All our Donkeys are Christian. They are for the most part in donkey homes. These look really happy.

  8. Oh, my! And you call that singing! LOL. I've never heard of keeping donkeys to maintain the land. Here goats are brought in to eat up the invasive plant species.

  9. sounds like my neighborhood every day. :) we have a guy who raises mules that lives nearby so they bray all the time. then we have several others that keep donkeys in their cattle herds as guardians. depending on which way the wind blows, i hear them from all around. :)
