Duckery At Castle Espie

Yesterday I showed you the adult ducks in the Castle Espie collection so today I am taking you into the Duckery to see duckling in photographs and video.  Once again you can see more ducklings in my archives that the wardens have reared earlier and the work that goes on in the Duckery (see 22 July).

Cape Teal

Eider

White-headed Duck

Now, when you watch the video from the Duckery, see how many ducklings you can recognise.  Some of them are now teenagers!

The video can be accessed at

If there is a black space below, click it and the video will appear.

I hope you enjoyed the photographs and video.  Today is an Australian bird however I will be continuing my tour of Castle Espie and  letting you kow abit about what went on there before the Wetland was made.

Thank you for visiting.

  4. I'll have to watch the video later. I really enjoy seeing relatively tame birds. It's great getting so close to them.
I see I have some catching up to do. I'll be back in a while.
The first picture really has the Aww factor.

  6. Beautiful photos - I especially liked the Eiders (snacking on rocks?) as they have unusual facial proportions compared to the ducks I see in Australia.

  7. The little ones are always so cute. The two in the first picture and the four in the fourth one are just adorable. It looked as if the juveniles in the video were having a splashing good time.

  8. Love those blue eyes in the first shot!
Those little babies are so precious and that shot is lovely with the colors and little bit of water.
