Last weekend when I was coming home from staying overnight in my 'old caravan', I stopped by another farm that belongs to Ena and I always pop in to see her. This is a where I buy my potatoes and I walk down and look at the view from her lough frontage. I didn't know that her sons, the farmers also grew Pumpkins so I went to photograph them first. What a wonderful sight greeted me. Pumpkin heaven and the evening sun were lighting up the field.
Rex, their sheep dog accompanied me down to the lough shore and sat with me while I scanned for birds. The light was fading and the tide was out however I saw Teal, Mallard, Heron, Redshank, Swans and quite a number of Gulls
Right hand side of view.
Bales of hay rolled for the winter. They also have beef cattle on the farm as well as going other crops.
I love this old car but it has seen better days!
So sit back and enjoy these orange balls of fire. There are even white pumpkins that I had never seen before and few gourds.
The guy is hand picking each Pumpkin! How about that.
I hope you feasted your eyes on these wonderful pumpkins and enjoyed this post. Eillen and I looked in at the field yesterday again but they were nearly all harvested now. Another long days birding but very enjoyable. Only 9 hours birding yesterday!!!
Thank you for visiting and leaving comments on any of my blogs.
I never met a pumpkin I didn't like - and those just glowed. Beautiful.

ReplyDeletewonderful photos Margaret, you've great spots for you and your camera. This is a very impressive pumpkin farm! Rex is a handsome boy and appears to be quite content helping you spot the birds instead of tending sheep or cattle.
ReplyDelete9 hours birding! You are living the dream! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how a simple thing that you eat for dinner can also be a thing of such beauty when properly noticed - lovely photos.
That first image of Rex looks like he's had a pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely field of pumpkins. Makes me think I picked mine too early though I did let them sit in the sun out of the rain for several weeks.

ReplyDeleteYour friend has a beautiful dog. Looks like a good harvest of pumpkins, too. I've seen the white ones in the last couple of years. They're quite pretty. I wonder if they taste the same as orange.
