On The Wild Side of Castle Espie

Following on from yesterday's post, we are still at Castle Espie WWT and these photographs are the wildlife and scenes I encountered.

This Little Grebe was in the pond overlooking the Limekiln Pavilion.

This is a beautiful observatory overlooking the shores of Strangford Lough.  Unfortunately the tide was out and although there were thousand of Pale bellied Brent on the far shore, they were to far away to photograph.

This wall is part of the old pier that I mentioned to you yesterday.

On the far shore there were Greylag and 1 Barnacle goose

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Thank you for visiting.

I appreciate all the people who left comments yesterday and enjoyed the history of Castle Espie.

  2. I love the little house with the grass roof, also the wonderful big tree with the moss. But my favorite today has to be the spectacular photo of the Mute Swan in flight!! You have captured the houses and trees underneath him so beautifully, and they are all falling away as he flies right toward you! This is a really thrilling photo!

  6. what stunning birds, I looked very close at the Gadwells and hated to admit that Mr G is a bit fancier than his Mrs...someone has got to change these dressing rules ;-). Huge mushrooms, eatable? Impressive observatory and is the swan really mute?
