SATURDAY CRITTERS

On one of my walks since I bought my tracker to see how may steps I walk in a day, I walked along Seacliffe Road in Bangor (my town) and found both Turnstone and Dunlin waiting for the very high tide to recede.  In my walk today, I saw 21 different species of birds in 1/1/2.   Not bad.

Although we see Turnstone all the year round here with there stocky build and orange legs and mostly dark brown on the back, the Dunlin is a bird we only see in his winter plumage and notice his back is a much lighter beige, has black legs and a slightly down curved beak.  These bird species are often found together.

I am linking this post with SATURDAY CRITTERS.

Many thanks for visiting and also for leaving comments.

  5. That is a nice gathering of shorebirds! I have been wearing a tracker for a few years. Mary Lou and I get into friendly competition as to who walks the most and sleeps the best! She is way ahead of me in speed while I trudge much more slowly with my camera but stay out for 2-2 1/2 hours each morning. She usually finishes the 3 mile round trip in about 45 minutes but my meanderings take me a considerably greater distance. Twenty species is my required minimun daily allowance of bird species and I feel unfulfilled if I do not reach tat total.

  6. Great shots- I do not know why it strikes my funny bone to see birds standing on one leg, but it does. Keep up the good work with your tracker- my goal is 13,500 a day and I try to never miss my goal. I love to walk.
