SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY and THROUGH MY LENS - Malawi Christmas 2015

These photographs were nearly all taken on Christmas day this year in Malawi apart from number 4 & 5 shots which were taken on Sunday 27 December when I was helping my daughter Judith with the Street Kids at City Pentecostal Church in Blantyre.

This is Annika, my granddaughter who received this NEW Malawian dressing gown which her mum had made for her.  She was thrilled. Judith also made me one for taking to Costa Rica with me.

This is our BREAKFAST table on Christmas day.

Later one in the day, this is our Christmas meal table which was at a friend's home and has a lot of RED colour in it.

This was a SIMPLE meal for the 149 children that live on the street who turned up to be fed.  If you remember last time I showed you when I helped this ministry, they were given Mandazi, a food with not much nutritional value and because of a generous donation, we are now able to give them 2 slices of bread with peanut butter and a drink of juice.  However, a church near Sydney has donated money and in future all the children will be given a cup of milk instead of juice.  Once a month they are given a cooked meal.

As it was Christmas, each child got a bag of assorted food products to take away and of course, they all wanted their photographs taken.  They were very happy.

After our Christmas dinner and Christmas pudding, Judith had made this gluten free delicious chocolate cake.  You can see that no only is it in the shape of a CIRCLE but also the place mats and plates.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I am linking it with

Many thanks for your visit and also to all those people who leave comments.

  1. It is humbling isn't it?
A cooked meal once a month? And they are no doubt very grateful to receive it.

  2. Oh how I loved African cloth. The dressing gown your daughter made is really nice. Mmm. Mandazi is a staple starch but as you say not all that nutritious. So pleased the donations helped to buy peanut butter and bread and juice. Yes, imagine looking forward to ONE cooked meal a month. But that's reality in Africa. Thanks for all you did for the children while you visited. Blessings JO xxx

  18. Annika's dressing gown is beautiful! She looks so lovely in it! I am so touched by the sweet children getting their Christmas dinner, but how awful that it was just peanut butter bread and juice! They only get one hot meal a month!? Look at their happy little faces! I wish they had more! How can someone help?
