Mountain Hare and Red Deer - Scotland day 3

Believe or not, I am still sharing what we saw on Day 3 of my birding trip to Scotland. Before we left Aviemore we also saw Black Grouse.  On our way to Pintorn Valley where we were hoping to see Golden Eagles, we saw Buzzard, Rook, Jackdaw and Pheasant,  When we arrived there in very cold conditions, we spied, high up on the mountain, 2 Mountain Hares and also 4 Red Deer.

We all scanned the skies and eventually saw a Golden Eagle fly over the white of the mountains.  I don't think even the boys with the enormous lens got a photo due to the eagle being a great distance away.

Nevertheless, the scenery was beautiful and it was so peaceful and quiet, however we could not stay long there as it was so cold.

These are some of the group and one of them pointing out a
 Raven and Buzzard.

I had never seen a Mountain Hare so that was exciting for me and although I did not get close up or good photographs of them or the Deer, I was pleased to get a record shot.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Thank you for visiting and to those who left comments on any of my posts.

  3. I'm just as fascinated by the scenery Margaret; those huge snowy mountains; it sure looks chilly! Were you laden up with warm gear?

  6. Hi Margaret and thank you for your kind words last week. I even had my blogger reading list missing for past 2 days, and could not keep up...it was so frustrating. Back on now and so glad. The way that I have to upload is done kind of through the back door of my blog. These images that you have shared are really beautiful. Have a great week~

  11. It certainly looks cold Margaret. How wonderful to see the Mountain Hare like that, and also a Golden Eagle, even if a little distant.
