It was a thrill for me to be able to see the Great
Spotted Woodpecker because it is only in the last few years that we have ever
had any of these birds in Northern Ireland.
Up to that, we neither had snakes or Woodpeckers!! However, very few people, including myself
have seen them here. So hope you enjoy
the still I took of this lovely bird.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the Great Spotted Woodpecker
as much as I did.
Thank you for visiting and I think most of you got a laugh from my post of yesterday.
I was very touched that so many took the trouble to wish me a Happy Birthday, it made my day.

ReplyDeleteYes, of course Margaret I'd forgotten that Great-spotted Woodpeckers only appeared over there in recent years. You made up for the lost years with those splendid pictures though.
ReplyDeleteGreat you saw one they are common here but very nervous. This is Mrs Great Spotted Woodpecker. In Scotland there are little ones about the size of a Starling.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots of this wood pecker Margaret! I have some shots I did from my cabin last year of a huge redheaded wood pecker. Will have to post them sometime. interesting that there are no snakes in ireland. Don't really think you are missing anything. If you think you are, will be happy to mail you one or more from the woods here. hope that your birthday was lovely. my daughters 40 th birthday is today, so your birthdays are very close. Mine is coming soon. the older you get, the more birthdays you seem to have, and closer together too. Have to live faster... LOL. Have a lovely day!
