On
a previous post I mentioned, that Mr Fox had killed all the Roosters and hens last year, these are all the replacements. This time there is only 1 Rooster called
Rodney and he rules the roost!
Last
year, they were all allowed to roam freely around the whole farm yard but with Mr 'bad' Fox probably still around somewhere, they now have a well fenced area with a lovely hen house were they can be safe at night.
Most
of these shots are close up however at the video at the end of the post you will
see them all better running around.
I think
Rodney is very handsome and any hen should be very happy to mate with him.

the short video does not appear below CLICK HERE

DeleteBeautiful Rodney images. You can't blame the Fox, he/she was doing what it is natural.
ReplyDeleteThat's true but the fox just left the hens and roosters for dead Bob.

ReplyDeleteHe certainly knows how to count his chickens!!! There is such a hierarchy in 'Hendom', that the feather run may have had something to do with that... entertaining for the observer &*> YAM xx
I agree, Rodney is very handsome. Glad to know that they now are safe from the fox.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by :)
Oh my gosh Margaret. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the video; especially the relay race. Hearing the sound of the chickens and other birds was great. And your narration made it all such a treat.

ReplyDeleteWonderful images of the roosters. Very colorful.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've missed the first 12 parts of this post so I have a question. Are these your chickens? They are so beautiful and yes, roosters rule the roost. I'd still keep an eye out for them nightly. We had chickens and ducklings in a little barn. We thought we had secured it well after we lost our first little ducklings and chicks. But then we lost our second bunch and since we couldn't outsmart what ate them, we gave up on it. I wish that would have worked out for us though. It seems it would be very rewarding.
ReplyDeleteHI Stacey I have replied via email to you.
DeleteRodney is sooo beautiful! And I love also the black and white hen! She is great!
ReplyDeleteThat rooster is a handsome fellow! Some of the hens remind me of our own chickens. We have some of the same breeds. Too bad about the fox last year.
ReplyDeleteOh what a handsome lad Rodney is. And his hen harem is beautiful too. Amazingly, today we were out for breakfast and I photographed beautiful hens walking around outside while we ate. Have a wonderful day. Jo. PS yes, we're in the thick middle of winter, Brrr.
ReplyDeleteGreatStunning chickens and handsome cock. Variegated chicken is wonderful, it has like a lacy dress on. Rarely kind of seeing, I have never.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend.
Rodney and the hens are just beautiful! Loved the photos and the video! I always wanted chickens but I doubt if that will ever happen. Glad these are safe in a pen now with the house to roost in. I had a rooster pet once but no hens. Has to be wonderful to be able to harvest the eggs!
ReplyDeleteWhat great fun! A feather relay ; )
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely flock of chickens. Your rooster is quite the handsome devil! :)
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! If I were a chicken I would sure go for Rodney! Gorgeous creature! All the others are beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteMargaret what a stunning rooster and hens. Our fox likes to hunt during the day here so those hens would be fair game day and night!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fine looking bird - I can see why a fox would hand around that pen.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne (airport)
What a striking fellow!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping he and his hen harem are not harrassed!
~

ReplyDeleteSome of these birds are so beautifully dressed. I love all the detail in their feathers.
ReplyDeleteRodney is a handsome fellow. The hens are very beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteThe rooster has gorgeous colors. All the chickens seem really energetic. The grey one with darker grey ruff looks just like my Cocoa Maran.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how pretty chickens are in beautiful light.
ReplyDeletesuch a colorful bunch :)
ReplyDeleteRodney is one fine rooster. Hopefully, they will all be safe.
