WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY - Wire tailed Swallow in Malawi

Yesterday you saw my family ‘throwing a pot’ at Nkhota-Kota Pottery Lodge and above their heads were these Swallow parents dashing in and out feeding their 2 chicks.  You will see  ALL THE ACTION BETTER on the Video BELOW.

CLICK Here if the video does not appear below. After I made this video I found a couple more clips which I will show you next week on WBW.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the parents feeding their young Swallows despite my shaky hand!  It was difficult to hold the camera up for so long especially when Annika, my granddaughter below was asking me questions all the time!

I am linking this post with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.

Thank you for visiting and tomorrow I will show you the girls painting the pots they made the day before. (See Mondays Post.)

  10. We've been seeing larger and larger gatherings of swallows swarming over the lakes and marshes as they gather fuel for the upcoming Spring migration northward. I'll soon be searching for the few residents who remain to breed here and hope to find their nesting sites for a current census effort.

Thank you, Margaret, for sharing your wonderful photos and video! Terrific opportunity!

    Have a blessed week!

  18. Very interesting, Margaret! It's quite a handsome swallow species. I researched swallows for a little while last year and they are thought to have evolved in Africa, as that is where the greatest number of species live. I bet there's quite a few varieties in Malawi!

  20. Your swallows are so pretty! We are fortunate enough to have some Welcome Swallows (I have no idea what the differences are!) around our house and they are so graceful in the air.

  21. Great shots of parent and nestling. They are similar to our Welcome Swallow which is not really ours anyway. Such pretty, graceful little birds.
