It is lovely to have a few photographers as well as
birders in my bird group and I am pleased when they send me some of their
photographs, they also give me permission to share them with you. Today, I am showing you a Buzzard taken by
one of them.
At least this Buzzard has found some sun.
Thank you for
visiting and also to all those who leave comments.
Lovely to see this close up. Hawks are beautiful, especially in flight.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!

Fantastic image Margaret. How kind of the photographer to share too. Was it on a heathland?
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a buzzard in person. They're certainly a large, solid looking bird!

Some people get all the luck with birds, thanks for sharing.

Lovely Buzzard, you can't beat it.
ReplyDeleteIs a buzzard the same as a vulture? This does not look anything like the ones around here. They have naked heads so they can eat dead prey and stay clean. This bird looks more like a hawk. How unusual!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful photograph Margaret. Thank you so much for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteHandsome fellow! In the western US States, buzzard is a nickname for vulture. And vultures, while necessary, are not anywhere as good looking as your buzzard!
ReplyDeleteGreat pic, Margaret.

That is a really great picture! Gorgeous bird aside, the greens are perfect, love the sunlight on the posts giving a green glow and the contrasts between the sharp prickles of (is it ?) the gorse and the smooth feathers of the Buzzard. 10/10 from me.

Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice Sunday.
Nice picture - and its good to know that these birds are rather more common than when I was a kid.

What kind of buzzard is this, Margaret? We saw a bird that looked like this one yesterday and thought it was a huge hawk. You know I'm no bird expert. ;) blessings ~ tanna
