We now are travelling further north up Malawi and were recommended to stop at Ngala beach Lodge for
coffee and for the rest of the week I will be showing you ALL the photographs I
took there. However today to fit into
WBW I am showing you the birds I found on this short visit.
This is the Little Bee-eater.
I will be featuring it
more on Saturday’s Critters post with stills and video.
It is worth looking at their web site, (Ngala beach Lodge) under News where
you will find a very long list of birds found around this area. A bird watchers paradise in more ways than
one.
Masked
Weaver
Reed
Cormorant
I
hope you enjoyed these few birds that I photographed at this Lodge but don’t
miss popping in tomorrow to see how beautiful this place is and the coffee was
wonderful also!
I am linking this post with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.
Thanks for visiting and also to those who leave
comments.

Bee eaters are spreading North into the UK, slowly but surely. A few bred last summer for this first time.

A great set Margaret. Its amazing to think that Bee Eaters have actually been observed in England (down on the coast). Really colourful little birds.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, does the bee eater really eat bees? Reminds me of a hummingbird.
ReplyDeletethe bee eater is very pretty. the 2nd bird with the small crest is neat, too.
ReplyDeleteThe bee eater is so pretty. And the weaver sure matches the foliage.
ReplyDeleteI like the curve in the bee-eater's beak and it's beautifully coloured!
ReplyDeleteLots of unusual birds! And colorful too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMasked weaver is pretty nifty!

I love the colors on the Bee Eater, it is so beautiful! Also so cool the cormorant is drying his wings, so impressive and large.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your birds. Wonderful photos! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful variety of birds. Your ability to catch the slightest differences is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow really like the Little Bee Eater and Masked Weaver.
ReplyDeleteStunning selection. Makes our British birds look somewhat drab in comparison.
ReplyDeleteSome amazing birds there.
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely lovely. Such gorgeous birds. Love the Masked Weaver on the yellow vegetation. Nice combo!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteThe colorful little Bee Eater is so pretty. I like the shots of the Cormorants on the rocks too.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just reel when you think about how many different species of birds there are and how few of them we actually ever get to see. I love this because these are both new to me ... and they are gorgeous (as is the bush or grass the the Masked Weaver is sitting on). You are blessed to get to go to all of these places with all of the rich experiences. Love it Margaret and I will be back for more ...

ReplyDeleteThere's something very special about bee eaters, all those amazing colours I guess. But also they are very accessible birds and unlike some bird species a bee eater will often pose up for a picture.I'm looking forward to seeing more of your African birds Margaret.
