Dovecote at Mount Stewart, near Newtownards

I visited the National Trust Property of Mount Stewart, near Newtownards yesterday and discovered that they had done a lot of cutting back of foliage.  I only ever was able to see the top of the Dovecote before and never realised it was erected on these four pillars.

I appreciate your visit and comments.

I hope you enjoyed this post today.

  1. They must have done some heavy duty pruning.

  2. Looks like they boosted its height as well. A little trim here and there can make lots of things look a lot better.

  4. Wow, the pillars are larger than the Dovecote!

  5. The tradition of keeping pigeons seems to declined. This Dovecot seems unused now.

  6. It looks sturdy, i wonder if any birds still use it.
