Birding with a South African couple

Just over a week ago I had the pleasure of taking a South African couple out birding. These are just a few photos from that day when we were able to see 57 different species of birds and also managed to fit in visiting a few interesting places.   One of the places we called into was Crawfordsburn Country Park.

Goldcrest

We found this dead Rook.

We saw these 2 Jays

After we visited the park we called into the oldest Inn in Ireland
which I will tell you about another day.

We went to Bangor, my home town and this building now is used as a
Tourist Information Centre.

We then went over the road to one of the piers to see the Black Guillemots.  I will leave you with one photograph today however on Saturday I will show you a great video of them.  We know them locally as the “Bangor Penguins" and you will see why on Saturday.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I thank you for visiting.
Many thanks for leaving comments on this post.

  3. 57 species!!! That is how many species I would see in five years if I was lucky! The little Goldcrest is so cute! It 's funny, you almost never see dead birds around. I guess vultures or other animals get to them first. I am glad that building was not torn down, it has a lot of history. LOVE the tower!

  5. Every image a masterpiece, as usual, Margaret. I love the Black Guillemots. And the SA couple look so young and fresh! Great post. Sorry I'm dashing about arranging cats' safety while we're away and also still have to go and cut and color my hair. So not many visits until I touch base on holiday again. Jo xxx

  18. Hi Margaret,
This is a very nice birding blog. The hooded crow in the first photos are also very beautiful. I also saw a kingfisher with you that we here in the Netherlands really not very often. Beautiful pictures of the jay, but the most beautiful I thought your last picture. I had never seen Black Guillemots and I had never heard of.
    Just beautiful!
