Sanderling on Ryde Beach

My friend Eileen, who lives on the Isle of Wight, UK, sent me these photos and video to show you.  Eileen often goes to Ryde to see these birds on the Esplanade.  Enjoy.  I am linking this post with SATURDAYS CRITTERS.

Eileen has also sent me a slow motion video of this lovely little wader and sometime in the future I will show you that.  For now, you can access the video at

If there is a black space below, click it and the video will appear.

(Eileen, please link me in for me as I am on an internet FREE Island)

Thank you for visiting.

Many thanks to Eileen for supplying today’s photos and video and also to all those people who left comments on any of my posts.

  3. Wow these birds are really puffed up! It must be a cold day, even their beaks are tucked into their feathers.
