Well I thought I would make another attempt to see the Yellow Wagtail this morning.  It was still at the reserve yesterday but alas it did not appear when I was there, AGAIN!! I went to the outside hides first where I watched 2 Mute Swans and a moorhen feeding.

The Tern Island only had nesting Black headed Gulls on it yet but there were 2 Sandwich and 1 Common Tern sitting on a wooden rail.  The still photos are not as good as I would like but better than nothing but enjoy looking at the video.

When I went to the Observatory, as this was Saturday there were a good number of visitors.  Unfortunately there were not many birds close at hand for them to see.  Over on the other side there were 3 Lapwing nesting, 4 pairs of White Wagtail, Shoveler, Mallard and Teal duck, 3 Heron, the usual Gulls, 7 Arctic Tern, a few Oystercatcher and 1 Wheatear.  It was especially lovely to see a female Mallard out with her brood of 10 very young Ducklings.

Only 1 Black tailed Godwit came near the Observation window.

There were a  good many Wood Pigeon feeding on the ground.

There was not even as many small birds on the feeders, just a couple of Greenfinch and Goldfinch.

Apart from a few Shelduck near the waters edge at the Obvervatory, there were quite a number on the other side of the reserve.

A good variety there Margaret.
ReplyDeleteNice shot of the dribbling swan.
A nice selection Margaret! It's always the same with Tern rafts, the Black-headed Gulls tend to get there first!
