A Walk In The Park

These are my final photos from walking in my nearest parks.  Below is in Ward Park and is in the heart of my town of Bangor, County Down.  I have just noticed when completing this post that blogger has the incorrect date on it.  It should be THURSDAY 30 MAY.

Mainly the only ducks we have in this park are Mallard but this little fellow looks different.

We also have quite a number of Greylag Geese however this one has a deformed leg but seems to manage well enough although he has to hop rather than walk.

The Alchemilla Mollis leaves all had raindrops on them and I took quite a few photographs of them as I thought the raindrops looked like diamonds sparkling in the sunlight.

The trees in Castle Park are fantastic and a lot of them are quite old. I just liked this one when the sun was streaming through it.

I loved the bright greens of the Ferns and this wonderful Acer.  This Acer is the same variety as I have in my garden and showed you a close up of a few days ago.

I took a small video was I was walking through the park.  I am just learning how to do this and also how to edit and join it all together so it is not wonderful so be patient with me until I can improve.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and thank you for visiting my blog

  1. Your local park looks like it's a treat to walk in Margaret...especially when the sun shines!
    And the video?...not bad for a beginner!!...[;o)

  2. HI Trevor Yes I am very fortunate to have both these parks on my doorstep. I really don't know whether the video is worth continuing with as I am only taking it from my stills camera and it takes hours to actually make the end result. I might be better just showing the individual clips instead of putting them together. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Margaret

  3. I'm a strong advocate that people should use parks more often especially if you live very close to one, so I've enjoyed your posts about your park it looks (in trems of stlye and landscaping) very similar to mine, was it once part of the grounds to a big old house?
In reference to the date issue, I'm wondering if you've adjusted the time settings to GMT in the blogger dashboard settings options as the default setting is USA time, and looking at the time you posted this post and then track back to American time it would've made approxiametly 12 midnigh in the USA (Wednesday).
I think you should carry on with the videos, but if it's to time consuming then go back to the stills, but I do like the videos...helpful:)

  4. Hi Douglas I am so glad you liked today's post. Castle Park was part of a grand estate and when my Mum lived opposite one of the gate lodges, she carried the milk in bottles(her father was a farmer/and milkman)up to the 'big house', as she called it. When I was a child and stayed with my grandparents, the grounds were open to the public then and often my Grannie would take me in and I loved the trees, plants, and wildlife they had at that time. Anyhow over time, I can photograph more parts of both Ward Park and Castle Park.
Now, I know the time is wrong, I just don't know how to change it!!! However, I often post at this time in the morning and if you notice today's post is joined to yesterdays post which has never happened before. Even when I was sending a second post about the Starlings, it was in a separate post!
Now I am encouraged about the video, that you enjoy those. the work is really is when I take quite a number and then have to join them and edit them etc. I am in the process of doing one after a walk yesterday and have tried to cut a piece out, but alas it has not worked so it is a bit frustrating but I certainly will finish this one EVENTUALLY. Must stop now as this reply will turn in a book! Many thanks for your helpful comments. Margaret

  6. Hi Margaret, Lovely photos and I enjoyed seeing your park which looks a very nice place to spend time Hearing your. commentary made it seem like I was walking there with you :-) A shame about the Greylag but it certainly seemed to be coping well.

I have enjoyed catching up with all your recent posts and also the Starling news and videos. I'm so glad they all fledged successfully. Perhaps Ruth will spot them being fed by the parents in or near her garden and update you eventually.

  7. Hi Ruth Many thanks for your comments adn looking through my posts. Yes great news about the Starling chick. Ruth is not a bird watcher adn I don't wnat her to feel she has to look for the fledglings, she needs a break after her stirling work she did for us all. Good you enjoyed the video. It is a lot ofwork to put it all together but if people are enjoying it, then it will be wowrthh all the hard work. Margaret
