THROUGH MY LENS

Kigelia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Bignoniaceae. The genus consists of only one species, Kigelia africana, which occurs throughout tropical Africa. The so-called sausage tree grows a poisonous fruit that is up to 60 cm long, weighs about 7 kg, and resembles a sausage in a casing.

  1. They are big - and made me think of a sweet potato rather than a sausage.

  3. They really do look like a sweet potato. Hopefully no animal will eat it of the ground if its poisonous.

  6. Those are huge. I looked them up on Wikipedia, it says care has to be taken where these are planted as falling fruit can cause injury to people or damage to vehicles parked under them!
