WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY

I photographed these images at the National Trust Property of Mount Stewart recently and are Swan, Black headed gull and Mallard.  Interesting in the last shot, the gull at the right/back, his head is already  turning from his winter plumage into his breeding plumage of have a Black, (actually dark brown) head.  Usually this happens in January.

I am linking to WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY

For those that saw yesterday's post about the fountain and were wondering what the shape was, we all were  wrong!  In the centre of the garden is a fountain with a bowl in the shape of a flax flower. It is called a twister twisting and has a tongue twister carved in the surrounding base. The water rising up from the fountain twists, but this is only visible in photographs as it happens so rapidly.

hope you enjoyed this post today.

I appreciate your visit and comments.

  1. Interesting that the bird is moving into breeding plumage so early. What does he know that we don't?

  6. It's nice to have that many birds in one place, it looks like they coexist well. You have a bird moving into breeding plumage early, and we have azaleas blooming early, which i am planning to show tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday. Something is most assuredly up.

  7. I never tire of seeing your swan photos. So that fountain of yesterday was in the shape of a flax flower, and here I thought it might be a lotus flower.
