Following on from yesterday's post when I was taking Ken and
Joanne from California out birding, we ended up at the RSPB WOW Centre in
Belfast. we also visited the 2 outside hides on the reserve. A
wonderful ending to their day out birding in Northern Ireland.
Although there were not as many birds a normal and a lot of the birds were sleeping, we saw, Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, Shoveler ducks, Redshank Lapwing, Coot, Moorhen, Heron and of course many gulls.
Teal
The evening light was lovely for reflections which you can see on Friday’s post. This is a young Shelduck as is the first photograph.
This man made island is one of two at the reserve and
is where the Black headed Gulls and Terns breed in the summer. The other one was covered that day with Lapwings. The backdrop to these photographs is the Harland and Wolf Shipyard.
