John’s
sister who comes every day to look after the calves and to feed them at Glynn Farm, County Antrim. The calves are taken away from their mothers at
four days old and put on a feeding programme, then weaned off that onto more
solid food.
This is Milo the cat.
This
is John’s sister's dog who is called Buffy.
Now
this the moment Gyp, Emma’s dog has been waiting for, so watch the video to see what he has accomplished in 2 weeks with Emma's training.
I leave you with a photograph of Emma on her pet Limousin heifer, called Beauty. Beauty is now mother to a very fine bull calf of about five months.
I am linking this post with SATURDAY CRITTERS.
Thank you for visiting and also to all those who leave comments.
An excellent young dog and cow trainer. Not sure I could be hard enough to separate cow and calf at four days but that is the price we pay for cheap milk.
ReplyDeleteHI Adrian Sent you an email explaing why calves are taken off their mother's at 4 days at John's farm.
DeleteGyp looks set to be a champion.
ReplyDeleteEmma is a dog whisperer. Or Gyp is a marvel. Or both.
ReplyDeleteso lovely! love Milo and especially Buffy!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness you have to be fit as anything to be a dog trainer - clever dog and trainer :)

Nice animal pictures ! Poor calves being separated at 4 days only ! I wonder why ?
ReplyDeleteHI Sent you an email explaing why calves are taken off their mother's at 4 days at John's farm.
DeleteEmma is very talented too - they are stars!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the calves too!
Lovely shot of Ema seated on the Heifer, and I enjoyed the vídeo very much. Gype is a good looking dog,, and he's a clever dog to learn so quickly. We used to separate our calves streight away, and fed them from a bottlle with their mothers milk at first, and then wean them of it.
ReplyDeleteGyp is every bit as clever as he is handsome.........thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Impressed all to heck by Emma and Gyp! Gee whiz why so young and why at all do the calves need to be separated from Mom...Buffy looks like she is winking at you, and Milo is a happy looking farm cat...this farm visit was great.
ReplyDeleteHI Lynn Sent you an email explaing why calves are taken off their mother's at 4 days at John's farm.
Deletegyp is a talent, for sure!! sweet girl.
ReplyDeleteWonderful farm animals. And the cat is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Margaret, as usual, Enjoy your post daily
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to see, how, although many miles separate us,the farming practices are much the same.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had such a nice time there at the farm. I see the calves here in farm country with their own little houses. I think they are destined for the grocery stores as veal if they're not selected for maturing as dairy cows.
ReplyDeleteCute pic of Emma on her cow! I had fun watching the video too. My old dog, Bear used to run and jump like that.
ReplyDeleteBuffy looks like a Buffy. Or a scruffy. Nice day at the farm.
ReplyDeletecute critters...i have never seen a person on a real cow ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post ... especially Emma on her cow! I love cows ... I think it's because of their beautiful brown eyes! Cute pups and I love the kitty. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteFun video.
ReplyDeleteA delightful post, Margaret. And I really like the shot of Emma on her cow.
