SATURDAY CRITTERS - Giraffe in Game Haven, near Blantyre, Malawi

Everyone knows the Giraffe.  This ‘selection’ of shots were still taken on my 2nd day in the Game Haven Park, Blantyre, Malawi.
They have only 2 Giraffes at this park and the smaller one is pregnant so they are hoping for a baby sometime before Christmas.  If my family get a shot of the baby I will share it with you.  There is a video at the end so enjoy.

You can access it at

  19. Aren't giraffes just beautiful to look at? I love the ones with his tongue out! And I LOVE that you thought to snap his skin and tail!! They always look like they don't have a care in the world.

  20. P.S. what a coincidence! I am on my way to see some giraffes myself today! In just an hour or so! But because they are behind a fence, I will never be able to get pictures as good as yours.

  22. Great close-up photos, Margaret! Loved the video as well. They are such beautiful animals! (My hubby's favorite!) Last year we went on an animal safari in N. AZ and I fed a giraffe a carrot from my mouth! I was so surprised he didn't even touch me with his tongue! :-) Their tongues are so long. It was quite an experience seeing him up close.

  27. I loved the photos of it sticking its tongue out - a very comical character! The photo of its beautiful pattern was great too. Amazing how nature so easily comes up with designs that a fashion designer would have to work his life to make a success of.
