Everyone knows the Giraffe. This ‘selection’ of shots were still taken on
my 2nd day in the Game Haven Park, Blantyre, Malawi.
They have only 2 Giraffes at this park and the
smaller one is pregnant so they are hoping for a baby sometime before Christmas. If my family get a shot of the baby I will
share it with you. There is a video at
the end so enjoy.
You
can access it at

A real joy to see them. I particularly love the first shot where it is poking out it's tongue at you. I actually laughed. It took me back to my childhood of children poking their tongues out when angry Well before they all had iPhones.

ReplyDeleteCool photos. I've always had to look through fences to see and photograph them!
ReplyDeletetruly unique creatures.
ReplyDeleteThis is an extra fine special devoted to this animal. I like the close up of the head and mouth details.
ReplyDeleteAren't giraffes just beautiful to look at? I love the ones with his tongue out! And I LOVE that you thought to snap his skin and tail!! They always look like they don't have a care in the world.
ReplyDeleteP.S. what a coincidence! I am on my way to see some giraffes myself today! In just an hour or so! But because they are behind a fence, I will never be able to get pictures as good as yours.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy it Margaret, especially the up close detail shots.. oh that tongue :) I love the way giraffes move, they just kind of lollop along, so much fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteGreat close-up photos, Margaret! Loved the video as well. They are such beautiful animals! (My hubby's favorite!) Last year we went on an animal safari in N. AZ and I fed a giraffe a carrot from my mouth! I was so surprised he didn't even touch me with his tongue! :-) Their tongues are so long. It was quite an experience seeing him up close.
ReplyDeleteWhat spectacular critters they are!
ReplyDelete~
I have a huge weakness for giraffes - and was amazed to learn that they have the same number of neck bones as we do.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous critters. Thank you.
Gorgeous animals! I love the patterns on them. I've seen giraffes at Kolmården in Sweden years ago.
ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating to get so close to a wild animal.
ReplyDeleteI love giraffes, but I've only seen them in the zoo. How wonderful to view them in the wild. These are great shots, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteI loved the photos of it sticking its tongue out - a very comical character! The photo of its beautiful pattern was great too. Amazing how nature so easily comes up with designs that a fashion designer would have to work his life to make a success of.
ReplyDeleteWow! Fabulous shots of the giraffes. I enjoyed viewing the video and you are welcome with the following your blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy! Such beautiful photos!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret.
Peace :)
