SATURDAY CRITTERS - Plains Zebra at Game Haven Park, Malawi

I have to admit that when I visited Africa a short while ago, I thought that a Zebras were just a Zebras!  However I have discovered that there are three species of zebras: the plains zebra, the Grévy's zebra and the mountain zebra. The unique stripes of zebras make them one of the animals most familiar to people. They occur in a variety of habitats, such as grasslands, savannas, woodlands, thorny scrublands, mountains, and coastal hills.  In Malawi it was the plains zebra I saw and will be showing you today.

I have a a short video which you can access at

Thank you for visiting.

Many thanks for all your comments.

  23. Your pictures are wonderful! I especially like the two together posing for you! I petted a zebra once, before knowing it was not allowed. I bet you know that those stripes go all the way through to their skin!

Especially love the 6th photo down, though it's very difficult to choose between such wonderful shots. Thanks for the interesting info and for sharing your spectacular sightings.

  25. Your photos are great of the beautiful Zebras, I used to see 2 kinds at the Wild Animal Park. The stripes on the face particularly look painted on, such great art work by a master painter. The second animal has such a beautiful stiff mane, too, very impressive.

  32. Even if there was only one sort of zebra, it would never just be a zebra, I think its more likely to be a ZEBRA!!

If you see what I mean!

  33. Gotta love the Zebra's which ever of the three types they are. Whilst most animals try to blend in to stay safe, they are the ultimate out there, look at me animals! Your photos are just stunning Margaret.
