Whooper Swans at Islandhill

When Jimmy and I didn't find the Spoonbill at Castle Espie. We headed to Islandhill where we found Whooper Swans about 3 fields away.  We decided to go down a farmer's lane and sure enough we managed to get quite a bit closer to them, in fact there were 4 different fields of them, totalling about 300+  As I have done a complete post recently on Whooper Swans with lots of information (see 16 November 2013), I suggest you get your cuppa, put the post onto slide mode and enjoy the Whoopers.
At the end there is a short video.

    1. HI Lynn Don't be jealous as you have lovely places over in France which you show us. Yes the video could have been longer but I was conscenrating on trying to get closer to the Swans to get some shots of them. You can only get so far and that is still quite a distance before they all lift. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the Whoopers and thanks for comment.

    1. HI Trevor Yes I was very fortunate to find the farmer's lane so that we could get a bit closer to them. From the road, I could only see the number in one field and it was not until I got down a long way that it was clear there were 3 more fields of them! JImmy did not come the whole way with me as it was VERY muddy!! Glad you like them and thanks for comment.

  15. What a great find! I have only seen the Mute Swans, I don't even know if there are any Whoopers around here. My very favorite is your picture of the swans in flight, so majestic.
