Tribute To Charlie

For many of you who have followed my blog, your will remember Charlie, my daughter's family, wonderful pet dog. Last Sunday, Charlie died very suddenly, not having been ill and we will all miss him terribly.

These are a few photos that I am sharing with you as a tribute to him.

A walk in the wood with Charlie.

My family with their beloved Charlie.

Such a good natured dog and so well behaved.

Charlie loved the beach and running into the water after his ball.

Charlie was much loved, not only by immediate family
but everyone who came across him.

Thank you for visiting today and also to those who left comments.

  1. I am so sorry. They wind their paws deep into our heart strings and take a piece of us with them when they leave.

  8. Very sad. I feel for you and your family. If you care for your pet as you and your family cared for Charlie they become family themselves. It can be hard to get over. I usually find it`s best not to wait too long after a pet dies to start looking around and planning what your next dog will be. A home that has had a dog for a long time seems to be lacking life until you get the next one. However it`s important to realise that dogs die and even though they are a loss they are just animals. Doing my job as a rural postman I have come accross people who gave their dogs almost human qualities and status. I have seen these people go into a deep depression when a dog dies. Look forward to your next one. What breed was Charlie? I always keep a spaniel and I think there was spaniel in Charlie. Would I be right?

  10. HI Tony I appreciate your very kind wishes at this sad time. Charlie was part Spaniel and I think labrador. My family aquired him overnight becasue another family who were moving to USA, had been going to take him with them, however at the last minute decided not too. My family did know Charlie and loved him and Charlie arrived and it was as if he had always been there. He did not need anytime to adjust but just fitted in. He had such a wonderful soft personality and was very obedient. He wil be missed. When I am over there, I will miss walking with him.

  11. Hi Margaret, I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. Pets easily become members of the family and are such pure-hearted things that we can't help but connect to their goodness on a deep level. The grief when they die is real and upsetting! I hope you and your family (especially the kids) will feel ok soon.

  20. I am SO sorry! It is true there is not much suffering to go all of a sudden, but it is such a shock for everyone!!! Your tribute is beautiful! I love the very beautiful last picture of charlie on the beach and his reflection. Your post really shows how much he was a part of the family and you can feel the love. How old was he, and do they have any idea what happened?
