THE WEEKEND ROUNDUP and WEEKEND REFLECTIONS

Time for The Weekend Roundup and Weekend Reflections.  This week the letter is W and Weather. The WEATHER was a perfect sunny day when I last visited the WILDFOWL and WETLAND Trust at Castle Espie giving me a lovely REFLECTION image of these WOOD ducks floating on the WET WATER.  Both of them have WHITE in their feathers  and folded WINGS.

A box hedge above is in the shape of the letter W and a tree below shaped like a W.  The final image was photographed at WHITEROCK WHEN the WEATHER WAS sunny and WATER WAS very calm, once again giving a lovely REFLECTION image.

From now I will not have internet coverage until near the new year, however I have sceduled in all my posts for you to look at.

Walking round the Mount Stewart Demesne with Toby (Part 2)

I am continuing from Monday’s post CLICK HERE if you missed that.  We crossed this field that a herd of cattle were grazing on and Toby often stopped to explain various aspects on how they were managing the demesne.  Some fields had been ploughed ready for seeds to be sown.

We came upon the original North Gate Lodge on the estate dating back from the 18^th century and Toby told us of the possible plans for it and the surrounding buildings.

There are several small ponds on the estate within the forest and they in time will be attended to.

Finally we came to the new Squirrel hide and in a later post I will show you what I photographed from there.

WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY

While out walking one day by the coast I saw these 3 species of waders all together. There were mainly Ringed Plover, but there are also Dunlin and Turnstone. Can you ID them all?

THROUGH MY LENS - Walking round the Mount Stewart Demesne with Toby (Part 1)

Recently the staff and volunteers of the National Trust Property of Mount Stewart walked around part of the demesne with Toby, a Ranger, part of which is not all opened to the public as yet.  We stopped at various place and he explained that over years some of the fields had grown potatoes and now the soil was nearly sterile and so this year 14 acres were seeded with wild flowers and in at the end of October, a lot were still in bloom.  It will take quite a number of years to correct this situation.

We walked over many lush green fields.  

Already they have 8 miles of paths open to the public and they hope by Easter 2019 to have added another 4 miles.  We passed a large compost heap and he was saying that although this may not look a pretty sight, he believed that the public should know what goes on behind the scenes.

SATURDAY CRITTERS

These are the Guinea Fowl we have wandering around Ward Park in Bangor however in the first three images they decided to walk along my road which is just two minutes from the park.
