WEEKEND REFLECTIONS AND THE WEEKEND ROUNDUP

Time for Weekend Reflections and The Weekend Roundup and the letter is M and Mighty.  Known locally as The MOAT, Donaghadee MOTTE was constructed by the Anglo-Normans in the late 12th century.

Circa 1821 a picturesque castle, the Gunpowder Store, was built on top of the MOTTE to store explosives during the building of the ‘new’ harbour.

In 2021 the Gunpowder Store was conserved and restored under the Donaghadee Townscape He Initiative funded by National Heritage Lottery Fund and Ards and North Down Borough Council.

The MOTTE is one of the largest in Ulster.

The Gunpowder Store is now home to the only accessible Camera Obscura on the island of Ireland.  Camera Obscura is an ancient optical device, it lets light in through a small opening on one side and projects a reversed and invested image on the other.

Below, I would say there is a MIGHTY good view from the MOAT

I will leave with a couple MORE photos from Anna and Jonathan’s wedding.  They have just arrived into the MARVELLOUS reception as a MARRIED couple to a MIGHTY MULTITUDE of guests who were delighted to clap and cheer.  Her MOTHER, my daughter is dressed in blue and  is seated beside Anna’s father. My final shot is my STREET PHOTOGRAPHY.

I hope you enjoyed this post today.

I appreciate your visit and comments.

SUNDAY THOUGHT

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

Many thanks for visiting and also for leaving any comments and stay safe.

Have a Blessed Sunday.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS AND THE WEEKEND ROUNDUP

Time for Weekend Reflections and The Weekend Roundup and the letter is L and Love. In August our whole family and friends flew over to Sweden to attending the wedding of my first granddaughter Anna to Jonathan. The LOVE that they shared was very plain to see. I LOVE Anna very much and was thrilled to have witnessed this union. Enjoy the images and there are many more to see when I get them edited.

You could say these two shots below are my STREET PHOTOGRPHY.  Unusually at one point the band arrived during the wedding and then more unusually at one   time played their instruments lying down as did the gown!  After they were married the bride and groom walked back up the red carpet with handfuls of real rose petals showering them.

I hope you enjoyed this post today.

I appreciate your visit and comments.

GOOD FENCES

I was driving along our coast road and stopped to take these two photographs of “fences”.  Both these properties have wonderful views of the sea.

THROUGH MY LENS

A few weeks ago I visited the Walled Garden in my town of Bangor and it was amazing there was still so much colour in the formal part of the garden.  The sculpture is in the wild garden which was beautiful in the summer, is dying back with only a few poppy’s are left blooming.
