Recently while visiting the Isle of Wight (I.O.W.) I
also paid a visit with the dog to Quarr Abbey.
It is home to a small group of Benedictine monks who strive to dedicate
their lives to the glory of God, and whose day is characterised by prayer, work
and community life. Today I will show
you the ruins of the first abbey and then the present day one. I finished in the gardens enjoying coffee and a scone.
I will link this post with
Through My Lens.
If you wish to know a lot more about Quarr Abbey CLICK HERE for their web site and also as I have posted nine times before about this
abbey and you will find those posts in LABELS in the RHC of the blog under Quarr
Abbey.
I
will be posting all this week about Quarr Abbey
Thank
you for visiting and also for leaving comments.
Looks like a lovely place!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful place. Your scone looks impressive as well. Apricot jam?
ReplyDeleteI think they are both beautiful. And the inside is spectacular and vaulted! But is that a sword in the monks hand? Surely not. Your weeping willow scene is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a serene environmant - the perfect place to contemplate all things spiritual, and indulge in scrumptious scones.
ReplyDeleteI love Quarr Abbey such a peaceful place. Last time we were there I saw a Red Squirrel :) Lovely set of photos Margaret.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Margaret. I love history, especially in the realm of religion.
