SATURDAY CRITTERS

These are some gulls and auks I saw recently when I walked down to the Long Hole at Bangor Pier.  The first gull is a 2nd year Herring gull.  Notice the amount of grey he has on his back.

I thought when I photographed these birds that they were both Razorbills and only when I looked at them on the laptop did I realise the LH one is a Common Guillemot and the RH one a Razorbill.

Lastly we have an adult Herring gull and a Turnstone.  Join me next Monday when I will show you more images and video of the Turnstone.

I am linking this post with SATURDAY CRITTERS.

Many thanks for visiting

  3. Such beautiful and interesting bird photos! The second one is gorgeous - birds look so handsome when flying - but the last one is my favourite. So contemplative! :)
Thank you very much for sharing!

  5. Wonderful!!! Now I have to ask, were these photos taken from a boat ride or with a zoom from the shore as you were walking?

    1. Anni I was walking and the birds at sea were actually quite a distance away (hence the not so good quality of the shots) and therefor I did have to zoom in and then crop them as well. I have only a bridge camera which I am happy with however it has its limitations but thanks for your visit and comment.

  14. The Redshank blends in so well with his surroundings that I did not see him! I wondered what those orange things were, and they turned out to be his feet! Ha ha! Number2 is my favorite, it is a WOW moment! It looks like you are right behind him flying beside him! And your last one is my second favorite, taken from behind. Very artistic.
