Recently my bird group went to the Quoile Pondage and below
is when we called in at their Countryside Centre and later on our way to the
hide we spotted these horses with foals more of which you will see this Saturday.
I am linking this post with GOOD FENCES.
I have now found out about these ponies and will add more informatin about them on this Saturday's post but in the meantime I can tell you they are Konik ponies and they are 2 filly's called Eostre, and Eimear and they are only yearlings so they have a lot of growing to do yet. The foal is still to be named as yet.
Thanks for your visit today and also to all those who leave comments.
What breed of pony are they? They look attractive but a bit small for me.
ReplyDeleteAdrian. I am hoping somone else will know as their are quite a number of ponies on the web that look very similiar.
ReplyDeleteI suspect they are yearlings and a foal and they will grow a fair bit. Highland ponies is my guess from their heads and mane. These are not powerful enough as they are, I will ask the experts but the ones I know are more into massive beasts like Clydesdales or three day eventers. The former are lovely gentle creatures the latter are for the most part 'Special Needs.'
DeletePS. The colour is I think called Bay but I just guess when working with them; Light brown, painted, dark brown, black, grey etc. Proper horse folk have special names.
DeleteAwww. Whatever the breed, they are seriously cute.
ReplyDeleteThey are a ponies, I love the way they look at you.
ReplyDeleteThe Quoile Centre is a pretty spot. Adorable ponies who seem interested in you too!

Certainly I can't, but they have a lovely home.
ReplyDeleteThe ponies are just lovely Margaret. They are a very brown colouring aren't they? A clue to their type?
ReplyDeleteCute faces staring through the fence ... makes the fence somewhat irrelevant if it weren't posted on "Good Fences". I have no idea what breed they are but they are indeed gorgeous. And I love the stone fece as well ... Very nice, Margaret ...

I am delighted with them.

The pony color is dun, not bay which is darker. Hard to tell exactly which breed of pony this is. It could be Connemara, or perhaps Moor Pony, but they don't look at all like Shetland, a common pony breed. They are lovely, and that mare would love you to bring her a treat.
ReplyDeleteLovely horses, lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh, look at the little pony. Baby animals sure do tug at the heart strings.
