There were 44 boats raced and were in different categories, starting at different times. It was a bit manic at the start as everyone was milling round the start point and trying to avoid ramming into one another.
That's moi, all kitted out and ready to go.
A single Mute Swan
These are 2 of the Isle of Wight Ferries passing each other
as skies are darken over us.
The girl in the front is Anna, my grand daughter who would not cooperative in my photo call!!! They are sailing a Pico dinghy.
These Common Tern were rocking around this channel buoy and in the background is Spitbank Fort. Once a year when the tides are right, there is an annual walk out to it, however many times people miss judge it and find the tide is coming in and they have to be rescued! There is a hotel on the Font adn I am told it is very expensive.
These are some of the competitors with their spinnakers up.
A very pretty sight.
This is my grandson, Matthew racing single handed in an Optomist. He finished 5th in his class of 31 boats
Mathew and another competitors
Moi at the Helm
A group of mostly Black headed and Herring Gulls on this jetty.
One of the Isle of Wight Ferries mowing down on us.
This is one of the 8 rescue boats. This one was speeding the the capsize below.
All were safe. All the children are well trained in righting a capsize
In fact, it turns out that before they righted it, they decided to play sliding in and out of the water from the side of it!
After the racing finished, the children were allowed
to jump into the water from the pontoon. That is Matthew
These are the girls waiting their turn with Anna in the middle.
I made a short video,(between tacking and jibbing!)
It can be accessed here. http://youtu.be/-CBmpMa15Eo

1. A compost mixter that Michael had madeyears ago.
2. A container to boil potatoes in for animal food, thn they would be mashed up and meal added. The spout would have been to drain the water off!
Many of you got he frst one, noboby answered the 2nd one correctly, however I think everyone enjoyed trying, indeed some gave answer to make me laugh. Thanks.

DeleteThis was a fun post. It was interesting to see how the weather changed throughout the day. The picture of the two ferries against the dark, stormy-looking sky looked very dramatic. Love the colorful sails in the later shots. Very interesting post.
