“Did you give the horse its strength?
Did you put the mane on its neck?

Did you make it able to jump like a locust
or snort so loudly that it scares people?

A horse is happy to be so strong.
It scratches the ground with its foot and runs into battle.

It laughs at fear; nothing makes it afraid!
It does not run away from battle.

The soldier’s quiver shakes on the horse’s side.
The spear and weapons its rider carries shine in the sun.

The horse gets very excited and races over the ground.
When it hears the trumpet blow, it cannot stand still.

When the trumpet sounds, it snorts, ‘Hurray!’
It can smell the battle from far away
and hear the shouts of commanders with all the other sounds of battle.

Thank you for visiting.

Many thanks for all your comments.

  1. Awesome picture and verse to go with it. I LOVE the styled wavy mane and the pink harness! She is a very girly girl horse!

  2. I like the head collar.

Job's description of the horse doesn't sound like any I know. Like anyone or anything in it's right mind it would be frightened of a battle.

  3. A beautiful horse and a lovely photo, thank you Margaret!

  4. This blonde has a beautiful face profile and fantastic hairstyle !
    Great photo !

  5. Hi Adrian. I would think the horses you know are NOT trained for battle. I have been reading a book by Ann Norton Greene where she explained how horses were trained for battle and do not have the same fear like humans would when they are charging toward enemy lines. Interesting reading.

  6. This is a wonderful horse.
    Beautiful picture Margaret.

  7. Hi! Your verse is very cool. This horse looks a little bit sad. But it makes me very impressive. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Wonderful verse and a pretty horse.. Happy Sunday, have a great new week ahead!
